In this exclusive conversation, Aneesh opens up about the inspiration behind Tu Hai, the challenges he faced while making the music video, and how this track represents his artistic growth.


What inspired you to create this song? Was there a particular moment or story behind it?

“Honestly, this song wasn’t planned at all. It came out of nowhere, and that’s what makes it so special to me. I was sitting with my headphones on, just trying to make something for my next month’s release. At that point, I had already made five different drafts—five songs that felt almost right but not quite there. I remember feeling a little frustrated because I wanted something fresh, something that would really hit me.

Then, this melody just struck. It wasn’t forced; it just happened. The moment I played it back, I knew—this was the one. It had a groove, a bounce, and a certain rawness that I instantly connected with. The lyrics were even more unexpected. I didn’t sit down to write them. They just flowed out in 15 minutes like they had been sitting inside me, waiting for the right moment. That’s why this track feels so personal—because I didn’t try to make it. It just came from within.”


How is this music video different from the rest?

“This music video has a story of its own. Initially, I had a completely different vision. The plan was to shoot in a club—we had everything sorted. I had a team in place, 30 people ready to be part of the shoot, and the entire concept mapped out. It was going to be high-energy, visually rich, and exactly what I had imagined.

But then, at the last moment, the club backed out, asking for a huge amount of money. It was a major setback, but I didn’t want to give up on the video. That’s when I started thinking of new ideas. I came across some Snorricam footage and thought, why not do something experimental? So, with just a couple of friends, a rented LC, and a whole lot of motivation, we shot the entire video in five hours. No big production, no fancy sets—just raw, unfiltered moments that make this video truly unique.”


What role did the team behind this project play? Are there any shoutouts you’d like to give?

“This wouldn’t have happened without Ratnesh, Ayush, and Mohit. Ratnesh randomly came over one day, and we started discussing ideas. I showed him the Pardesi music video from Dev.D and Don Toliver’s No Idea, and we both felt like we should do something with a Snorricam. Two days later, on Shivratri, Ratnesh was free, so I just called him and said, Let’s shoot the video today. No plan, nothing—just pure motivation.

Ayush and Mohit joined in, and the four of us made it happen. We had no big budget—the only thing we rented was an LC. Everything else was just us running around, finding cool spots, and capturing moments that felt raw and real. That’s what made this video special.”


What was the biggest challenge you faced while producing the song and the video?

“The biggest challenge was definitely the club cancellation. It was super demotivating because I had everything planned out, and in my head, the music video was supposed to have that club vibe—flashing lights, people dancing, that whole aesthetic. When that fell apart, I felt like the song had a different destiny.

But instead of sulking over it, I flipped the whole idea. I decided that I was going to make this happen no matter what. The whole music video was shot in just five hours, edited in two days, and within three days, the final product was in my hands. And since I directed and edited it myself, I had full freedom to shape it exactly how I wanted.”


How do you think this song represents your growth as an artist compared to your previous releases?

“I think I’ve grown a lot—not just musically, but creatively as a whole. This time, I took full control of the visual side too. I was involved in everything—the concept, the direction, the cinematography, even post-production. It made me realize that creativity isn’t just about making a good song—it’s about bringing the whole vision to life.

What makes me really proud is that I pulled this off with zero budget, no fancy setup—just pure motivation to create something unique. This project wasn’t just about music—it was about growth. And that’s something I’ll carry with me moving forward.”


What emotions or experiences do you hope listeners take away from this song?

“If you really listen to the lyrics, Tu Hai is actually a sad song. It’s about missing someone, feeling that emptiness, craving attention from that one person. But I didn’t want to make it sound sad—I wanted it to feel alive. That’s why we added vocal chops, crazy harmonies, and layers to make it sound infectious.

The beauty of this song is that it’s open to interpretation. If you’re in a good mood, you’ll vibe to the beat. But if you’re going through something, you might catch the lyrics and feel that sadness. I’ve done my part—now it’s up to the people how they take it.”


Were there any fun moments during the shoot?

“There were so many unexpected moments! One of the craziest ones was when Mohit and Ayush went to buy some beer for a scene. They ended up chatting with the liquor store owner, and out of nowhere, he invited us to shoot inside his store. It was massive—like something out of a movie. Unfortunately, the footage didn’t make the final cut, but the experience was wild.

And then, towards the end of the shoot in Sanpada, we got stopped by two policemen because I had a tripod literally hanging around my waist. They told us we couldn’t shoot there, and we thought we were in trouble. But after showing them some of our work, they actually became fans! It’s moments like these that make projects like this unforgettable.”
