Panvel Prepares for Grand Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti Celebrations

Panvel, a vibrant city in Navi Mumbai, is gearing up to honor the birth anniversary of the revered Maratha warrior, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, on February 19. The Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) has organized a series of grand events to commemorate this significant occasion, inviting citizens to actively participate in the celebrations.

Morning Rituals and Grand Procession

The festivities will commence at 7:00 AM with a solemn garland offering at the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. This will be followed by a grand procession at 8:00 AM, which will showcase Maharashtra’s rich heritage.

The procession will feature:

• 40 women dressed in traditional attire, symbolizing the state’s culture.
• A grand Chitrarath, a decorative chariot displaying Shivaji Maharaj’s heroic deeds.
• Traditional drum performances (Dhol-Tasha Pathak) to energize the crowd.
• Enthusiastic youth and cultural troupes showcasing martial arts and historical performances.

The procession will move through key locations in Panvel before concluding with another floral tribute at a different statue of Shivaji Maharaj.

Cultural Programs and Tributes

Following the procession, a special cultural program will be held at Adya Krantiveer Vasudev Balwant Phadke Theater. The event will include:

• The rendition of the state anthem, Jai Jai Maharashtra Mazha.
• Powada recitals, folk performances narrating Shivaji Maharaj’s valor.
• Traditional dances depicting his coronation and historical milestones.

The event aims to educate and inspire people about Shivaji Maharaj’s contributions to Maharashtra and Indian history.
