The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation Transport (NMMT) has unveiled its budget for the fiscal year 2025-26, emphasizing a significant shift towards eco-friendly public transport solutions. With a total proposed revenue and capital income of INR 534 crore, the budget aims to enhance the city’s transportation infrastructure while promoting sustainability.

- Electric and CNG Buses: Building upon the introduction of 72 electric (AC) buses in 2024-25, NMMT plans to add 28 more electric buses to its fleet. Additionally, the operation of 92 existing buses alongside 50 new CNG buses is projected to generate revenue of INR 25.66 crore between April 2025 and March 2026.

- Bus Terminals and Depots: A capital expenditure of INR 91.40 crore has been earmarked for the acquisition of land for bus depots and terminals, construction and development of bus terminals, and procurement of new buses.
- Commercial Complex at Vashi: The completion of the commercial complex at Vashi Sector-9 Bus Terminal is anticipated to generate additional non-fare revenue, with the Vashi Terminus development project alone estimated to bring in INR 32 crore.

- ‘Increase Passengers, Increase Revenue’ Campaign: This initiative focuses on boosting passenger numbers and fuel efficiency, thereby increasing overall revenue.
- Additional Revenue Streams: NMMT expects to generate INR 20.95 crore from passenger and student pass schemes, intermittent agreements, fines for ticketless travel, and advertisements on buses and bus stops.

- Intelligent Transport Management System (ITMS): The ITMS project is nearing completion, aiming to streamline operations and enhance the commuter experience through advanced technology.
